Kathy is high energy and fun, loving to laugh. She can also manifest a softness conducive to your needs when you feel it’s time to talk about the hard things. This soothing side of Kathy also presents itself during moments in therapy when she and the client choose to use techniques such as meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, and imagery. Something she loves to do that allows her to use her creative imagination in therapy! Regardless of who walks into her office, she is always kind, welcoming, and without judgment. Sometimes it helps to just talk to someone and Kathy is a good listener with an ability to identify underlying emotions, so if you want to dive deep at some point, she can help you navigate rough waters. You can do it!
Kathy earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology with an Emphasis in Social Work at Oglethorpe University. She then went on to complete her Masters in Social Work from the University of Georgia later earning her License in Clinical Social Work. Kathy’s professional background includes therapeutic work with individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and children. She currently works with adults and particularly enjoys working with adults who would like to partner with a professional to manage anxiety.
The approach used with her clients is eclectic and holistic. Techniques are taken and utilized from Behavior therapy, Existential therapy, and Humanistic therapy creating the approach to meet the treatment needs of the individual. Human beings are not cookie cutters and are complex, so Kathy applies techniques and psychological theories appropriate for you.
Kathy’s work with Tender Touch focuses on working with people that are navigating life while dealing with the challenges of severe and chronic mental illness providing individual and group therapy. Her clients include people diagnosed with Bipolar disorder, Schizoaffective disorder, Paranoid schizophrenia, Post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, and depression.
One day, Kathy received a shipment from her sister. It contained a plaque that read, “God does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called.” Her sister understood the importance of Kathy’s faith in every aspect of her life. It also reflects the importance she places on her client’s spirituality. Her respect for all person’s orientation is encapsulated in the coexists bumper sticker on her car. It is an important dimension of wellness. She equally loves the string of crystals hanging from her rear-view mirror. In summary, Kathy is a lover of beauty readily seeing the beauty in people.
Creativity is a thread running through every aspect of her life, for example, she paints. She is equally creative in therapy which many of her clients enjoy. Many clients have also told her they quickly relax when they come to her office. You may have that same experience!

Kathy enjoys home improvements, animals, walking, gardening and landscaping, board games, card games, online games, meditation, guided imagery and visualization, deep breathing, painting and other forms of artistic expression, yoga, adult coloring, socializing, celebrating, reading, nutrition, neuroscience, and family.
